At Superior Health Care Providers, Inc., we are proud to offer first-rate Home Health Care and physical therapy services provided by licensed staff members and Physical Therapists. They utilize their expertise to ensure that you are able to have a speedy and effective rehabilitation process.

However, as the one going through the process, you might be asking yourself, “How do I make the most out of my physical therapy sessions?” Well, here are some tips you should consider so that you can get the full benefit of your physical therapy:

  • Don’t hesitate to ask questions. Some individuals feel hesitant to ask questions and instead, they choose to trust everything that their physical therapist says and does. While they are experts at what they do, you might not always understand what they are doing and what they’re doing it for, so make sure to ask. Be an active part of your rehabilitation process – ask about the exercises you’re doing and what they’re for, ask for realistic outcomes, and ask any other questions that you can think of. By asking questions, you can start to fully understand your recovery process. Keep yourself informed.

  • Be patient. It may be hard to accept, but you should understand that your recovery won’t happen overnight. It may take days, weeks, months, and even years. Stay patient and don’t beat yourself up when you feel like you aren’t progressing fast enough. Recovery takes time. When it gets too hard, reach out to your family and friends for support.

  • Do your exercises. When your physical therapist prescribes you with exercises to complete, make sure to do them. Don’t skip out on anything and do them exactly as instructed. Remember, they prescribed those exercises for a reason. On the other hand, don’t push yourself too hard. When you’re feeling good, you might think about doing an additional set of exercises that weren’t prescribed, however, in doing so, you might accidentally go over the limit and undo any progress that you’ve made.

  • Keep your physician in the loop. If you were referred to a physical therapist by your primary care physician, make sure to keep them in the loop. Provide them with regular updates on your progress. Having integrated care is vital to your overall recovery and wellness.

These are just four tips to help you maximize the benefits of your physical therapy. Again, make sure to ask questions, stay patient, do your exercises, and update your physician on your progress. Stay safe and good luck on your journey towards a full recovery!
